Awareness Program on Drug Abuse at VV, Jirikindeng

Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Jirikindeng, organized an Awareness Program on Drug Abuse for students of Classes VIII to X in collaboration with Jirikindeng Police Station. The program aimed at educating students about the harmful effects of drugs, ways to stay away from addiction, and the importance of living a healthy, disciplined life.

The session began with Mangalacharan followed by the inspirational quote of Swami Vivekananda: “Expansion is life, Contraction is death.” After the felicitation of guests, the event moved forward with insightful talks from eminent personalities of the locality.

  • Sri Sisir Dam, a renowned businessman and social worker of Jirikindeng, addressed the gathering on “The present situation of Jirikindeng and ways to safeguard ourselves from drug abuse.”
  • Sri Lukas Millick, former VDC Chairman of Jirikindeng, shared a heart-touching personal story of how one of his friends fell victim to drug addiction and ultimately lost his life. He appealed to the students to be mindful of their friend circles and avoid negative influences.
  • Dr. Pawan Chauhan of Jirikindeng Hospital explained in detail the severe effects of drug consumption on the human body, urging students to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
  • Sri Horen Timung, Officer-in-Charge of Jirikindeng Police Station, highlighted the laws and punishments associated with drug abuse and stressed the importance of discipline and awareness.

The program not only warned against the dangers of substance abuse but also reinforced the values of discipline, character, and morality among the students of VKV Jirikindeng. All the dignitaries praised the Vidyalaya’s commitment to nurturing value-based education and expressed hope that the students would remain untouched by such unhealthy practices.

The event concluded with the universal prayer “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah,” spreading a message of harmony, health, and happiness.
