Ganit Prajna Samvardhan 2024–25: Nurturing Mathematical Excellence and Joyful Learning


Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag (VKSPV), Guwahati
, a project of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, successfully organized Ganit Prajna Samvardhan (GPS) 2024–25 from 24th to 27th October 2025 at DHSK College and Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) Dibrugarh.

The programme, an appreciation and exposure camp for mathematics achievers, brought together 98 students and 40 mathematics teachers from various VKVs across Assam and Nagaland. It was designed for the top ten rank holders of Classes VI, VII, and VIII of the Ganit Prajna Pariksha (GPP) for the years 2024 and 2025, celebrating their excellence and enthusiasm for mathematics.

Students were felicitated with the Kusum Laxmikant Nimgaonkar Annual Award for Proficiency in Mathematics and the Rati Kanta Sarmah Annual Award for Proficiency in Mathematics.


Day 1 – 24th October 2025: Inaugural Session and Mathematical Presentations


The participants reached VKV Dibrugarh in the evening, where the
inaugural session began with Omkaras and Mangalacharan.
The session was graced by Mananiya Kunjalata Deori, Vice-Chairman of VMC VKV Dibrugarh and Nagar Sanchalika VK Dibrugarh, along with Shri Achinta Goswami, Principal of VKV Dibrugarh, and Shri Bijan Saha, Principal of VKV Ramnagar and Coordinator of GPP.

Students introduced themselves, and the Chief Guest encouraged them to explore mathematics with curiosity and joy. This was followed by Model and PPT Presentations by students from different VKVs, showcasing innovative mathematical concepts and models.

The evening concluded with Shanti Path and a meeting with escort teachers to finalize the schedule for the upcoming sessions.


Day 2 – 25th October 2025: Academic Sessions and Exploration

The day began at 6:00 a.m. with Pratahsmaran, Gita Chanting, and Yoga Abhyas, setting a serene tone for learning.
The inaugural ceremony at DHSK Commerce College started at 9:00 a.m., graced by Dr. Khanindra Misra Bhagawati, Retired Principal, DHSK Commerce College, as Chief Guest, along with Shubham Seth, Administrative Coordinator, VKSPV.

Shri Achinta Goswami and Shri Bijan Saha addressed the gathering, emphasizing the purpose of GPP and its decade-long journey of inspiring students towards joyful mathematics learning.
Mridul Sharma, Controller of Examinations, DHSK College, and Shubham Seth Sir spoke about the relevance of mathematics and the contribution of Vivekananda Kendra in holistic education.


After the inaugural event, students visited DHSK College Laboratories (Chemistry, Botany, and Physics), where they observed practical demonstrations and learned how mathematics interlinks with other sciences.

Later, Prof. Ananta Kumar Dutta from Dibru College conducted an interactive session on “How to Improve Learning Mathematics: Some Basic Concepts.”

In the afternoon, participants visited Bogibeel Eco Resort and attended a motivational session by Shri Prodip Kumar Saikia, Gold Medalist in Physics from Dibrugarh University. The group also visited Bogibeel Bridge and Jagannath Temple, concluding the day with Bhajan Sandhya.
The evening ended with reflections, where students shared their learning experiences and gave creative PPT presentations.


Day 3 – 26th October 2025: Motivational Sessions and Prize Distribution

The day started with Pratahsmaran, Gita Chanting, and Yoga Abhyas. Students then proceeded to DHSK College for a series of inspiring sessions.

The second day’s first session featured Dr. Pranjal Buragohain, Professor of Mathematics, Dibrugarh University, who delivered a powerful talk on “Staying Focused in a Distracted World.” He elaborated on the meaning of Focus and the difference between Goals and Wishes.

Next, Dr. Arup Kumar Misra, Chairman of the Pollution Control Board, Assam, conducted a session on “Developing Scientific Temperament”, emphasizing the importance of curiosity and critical thinking.

After lunch, Dr. Gopal Chandra Hazarika, Former Professor, Dibrugarh University, spoke on “The Beautiful World of Mathematics”, helping students appreciate the beauty and logic of mathematical thinking.

The valedictory session was addressed by Shri Achinta Goswami, Shri Bijan Saha, Shri Shubham Seth, and Dr. Priya Dev Goswami, who inspired the students to continue their pursuit of excellence.


The programme concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, where the top three rank holders and best three VKVs (2024 and 2025) were awarded. Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, Principal of DHSK College, graced the event as Chief Guest and shared words of motivation and appreciation.


Conclusion

The Ganit Prajna Samvardhan 2024–25 successfully fulfilled its mission of promoting joyful and experiential learning in mathematics. The event not only honed students’ mathematical abilities but also instilled values of teamwork, discipline, and curiosity.

Students and teachers returned with renewed enthusiasm, carrying forward Swami Vivekananda’s message —

“Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man.”
