Workshop for The Teachers of Class IX

The Workshop for the teachers of class IX was necessitated by the recent reforms brought in by CBSE in the school-based evaluation and examination system. The emphasis of the workshop was on planning specific modalities for implementation of the Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in the VKVs under VKSPV.

Science Working Model Exhibition November 2009

Chief Guests, Inaugural Programme: prof. Arup Kumar Sarma, Dean, Academics, IIT Guwahati & Sri Devashish sarkar, General Manager (NEC), margherita. Resource person: sri Kanak Gogoi, Scientist, Guwahati.

Out of 19 working models exhibited, 2 were selected for further studies by the Scientist par Excellence sri kanak Gogoi while 13 were recommended for National Innovation Foundation. 'srjamanjari', the souvenir of the exhibition, was published on 24 march 2010.

Victims Helped October 2009

 

2nd October 2009, NC Hills (now Dima Hasao)

Ever mobilising to help people in distress

Never shirking from its societal responsibilities, VKSPV has always been extending help to the people in distress since its very inception. Cash and relief material worth Rs. 2 lakh was donated to 75 families displaced in insurgency torn NC Hills (now Dima Hasao) even as various camps sheltered about 17000 victims. Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari is now sponsoring the education of 10 Dimasa children belonging to a few affected families providing each one of them with hostel facilities in VKVs situated in Kajalgaon and Majuli. Earlier, responding promptly to the post strife challenges in the face of Udalguri violence, VKSPV mobilised the VKV community and the general public, and donated to the victims cash and kinds to the tune of Rs. 2 lakh (on 14.12.08). The relief benefited 300 families in the camps in and around Udalguri whereas the displaced victims numbered around 2 lakh.

Educational Audit Workshop September 2009

At different points of time; VK Kanyakumari, VKIC Guwahati, VK Tezpur, VKVs in Nalbari, Dibrugarh and Golaghat.

Introspcting and dispassionately analyzing every educational process,,,

Reorienting itself towards its twin goals of ‘man making-nation building’ being the crying need, VKSPV embarked on the introspection and dispassionate analysis of its educational activities stretching over 30 years since its inception in a workshop aptly termed as 'Educational Audit'. The ultimate aim of the audit is to streamline educational and  administrative processes to meet the organizational objective. In view of this, for over two years now different workshops have been organised at different points of time for different groups comprised of stakeholders of the VKVs viz. parents, well wishers, teachers, principals and VKSPV members. Sri Shirish Joshi, Management Consultant, Pune is the mainstay of the entire programme of Educational Audit.

Essay Writing Competition September 2009

Student participants: 560 (Junior: 309 & Senior: 251)

Annual Essay Writing Competition was conducted to encourage young writers to give free expression to the issues encompassing'lndia's contibution to he field of Science and Technology', 'Sustainable Development, 'saving habit in the family is the strength of our economy' & 'Invasion That never Was". The first two themes were allotted to the Juniors while the last ones to the Senior Group.

The soul object to strengthen the school administration brought about the three-day workshop 25 participants included office staff responsible for accounts, Principals and VKSPV officials. Invited resource person Sri Raghunath Kulkarni, Management Consultant, Pune dealt with various significant aspects of administration. Professionals from LIC and ESI department were also among those who guided the participants.

Teachers Orientation Camp August 2009

 

Working out a common plan to correlate key activities at Schools,,  

7-9 August 2009, VKV Dibrugarh

Participants: 78 (including teachers and Principals) With specific academic objectives and related issues the APS was conducted apart from having deliberations on themes like 'Glorious Bharatvarsha'and 'The Distorted History of India'. The sessions of the TOC were mostly devoted to formulating a common comprehensive plan 

1. to conduct common exams for classes VI-VIII,

2. to suggest such co-curricular programmes as would integrate co-curricular activities with curricular ones effectively and

3. to initiate an Academic Council to support and document academic activities at schools.

The participants put their heads together to arrive at a common plan to be executed in a manner which correlates curricular activities with co-curricular ones and facilitates excellent growth of both with minimum wastage of time in the process.

Summer Workshop July 2009

A bustling summer Workshop teeming with science enthusiasts

6-14 July 2009, Jnana Probodhini Prashala, Pune

A select group of students with a bent for science was given an opportunity to attend a workshop on scientific model making at Jnana Probodhini Prashala, Pune during the Summer Vacation in July 2009. All of them highly benefited from the workshop as they imbibed new ideas and concepts. Their interaction with the learned scholars of the institutions such as Jnana Probodhini, Vigyan Ashram, IUCAA (Inter University Centre for Astronomy & Astrophysics) etc. was truly rewarding. Science Clubs formed by the participants of the workshop as its follow-up have been function well since increasing participation of students of various age groups.

Samskar Varga Prashikshan Shibir July 2009

'To practise leadership by leading a group in real life, and serve Motherland'

2-6 July, VKV Golaghat

VKSPV conducts a Samskar Varga Prashikshan Shibir (Value Education Training Programme) every year to give students real life situations to lead people so that they can cultivate in themselves all that leadership demands. As opposed to the ostensible effectiveness of speeches and stories in developing leadership in students, these Shibirs strive to inculcate good values in students through games, stories, songs etc. giving them also a forum to practise leadership. This time round 88 students and 20 teachers partook in the 5-day residential Shibir. Charged with the spirit and zeal of our National leaders the participants expressed all their readiness to serve their Motherland.

Special Guests: Sri Harendra Nath Bora, Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat district inaugurated the Shibir and Smt. Arati Saikia, Renowned Social Worker, Golaghat blessed the participants in the concluding session.

With a more child-centric and activity based teaching-learning approach, VKSPV has come of age and made yet another stride with a three-day residential camp aptly titled ‘Abhigyata Prerana Shibir’ with its focus on the child and plenty of educational activities. With the blessings of Rev. Swami Ishatmanandaji, Secretary, R.K. Mission, Deomali and the support of the teachers of VKV Tinsukia the shibir came along. 26 teachers from 5 schools registered under Ramkrishna Society located in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland took part in it.

More child-centric and more activity - based,

Coming of age with a more child - centric and activity- based teaching-learning approach, VKSPV has made yet another stride with a three-day residential camp namely Abhigyata Prerana Shibi with the focus on the child and plenty of educational activities.

The Shibir could be conducted effectively with the blessings of Rev. Swami Ishatmanandaji, Secretary R.K. Mission, Deomali and the support of the teachers of VKV Tinsukia full of beans.

26 teachers from 5 schools registered under Ramkrishna Society located in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland took part in it.
